If so, the Stream Interdisciplinary Journal of Communication is extending the deadline to submit your paper, in-progress research, or extended abstract for a joint special issue with the CONDUITS Graduate Conference. Submissions due July 15.

Are you a graduate student who presented at the 2024 ACC-CCA Conference titled, Sustaining Shared Futures held at the Université de Montréal from 18 – 21 June? Stream Interdisciplinary Journal of Communication is inviting you to submit a full paper, research in progress, or extended abstract for the upcoming special conference issue, guest edited by the ACC-CCA Graduate Student Representatives for the conference, Dana Cramer (2022-2024) and Amanda Zanco (2023-2025).

Submissions are welcome from fields of interdisciplinary studies which intersect with communication studies, media studies, and cultural studies. The deadline to submit is 1 November 2024 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

All papers should be 5-20 pages in length and submitted as a Word document (.doc or .docx), or a rich text format (.rft). Please consult Stream’s website for submission guidelines.

Only works which are the fully written and submitted by graduate students at the master’s and/or doctoral program levels will be accepted for review. Faculty and postdoctoral fellows are excluded from this graduate student edition. Texts co-authored by postdocs, working professions, instructors, and/or professors do not qualify for publication with Stream.

Êtes-vous un étudiant diplômé qui a présenté une communication lors de la conférence 2024 de l'ACC-CCA intitulée Sustaining Shared Futures qui s'est tenue à l'Université de Montréal du 18 au 21 juin ? Stream Interdisciplinary Journal of Communication vous invite à soumettre un article complet, une recherche en cours ou un résumé détaillé pour le prochain numéro spécial de la conférence, édité par les représentants des étudiants diplômés de l'ACC-CCA pour la conférence, Dana Cramer (2022-2024) et Amanda Zanco (2023-2025).

Les soumissions sont les bienvenues dans les domaines d'études interdisciplinaires qui recoupent les études en communication, les études médiatiques et les études culturelles. La date limite de soumission est le 29 novembre 2024 à 23 h 59 (PST).

Call for Submissions: 2024 Emotion - Stream Special Issue

Want to talk about feelings? Stream Interdisciplinary Journal wants to highlight critical communication approaches surrounding its theme: Emotion.

There is a lot to feel right now, and we want to compile research that takes up these feelings. Research regarding emotions, affect, sensations, and feelings is an intentionally broad category. We welcome submissions using a variety of approaches to tackle questions and themes that may fall under this umbrella.
We have a few categories of work and topics that might relate to this issue, but this is only a starting point:

- Queer theory
- Feminist theory
- Far-right and alt-right studies
- Affect theory
- Climate communication
- Labour studies
- Theories of emotion
- Affective economies
- Emotion/affect and AI
- Collective feeling
- Care as affective engagement
- Design and commodification of emotion/affect

Stream invites you to submit a full paper, research in progress, or extended abstract for this edition. Call for Submissions: 2023 Transnational Feminism - Stream Special Issue

We consistently remain inspired by those across the world who fight different battles for the same goals: women, life, and freedom. From the women of Iran leading an unprecedented revolution, to those in the United States who fight for reproductive rights in a post-Roe world, feminism is taking the global stage. 

Stream Interdisciplinary Journal wants to highlight this revolutionary time with a special edition inspired by the recent Simon Fraser University’s School of Communication symposium which took place on March 3, 2023. Though this issue is informed by the work presented at this conference, we encourage submissions related to all areas of transnational feminism, such as but not limited to: 

- Ecofeminism

- Revolutions

- Nation-as-state

- Solidarity

- Decolonization 

- Corporeal feminism

- Feminist method and activism

- Feminist globalization 

- Feminism and social movement studies

- Technology of gender and sexuality

- Women and labor

Chers étudiant.e.s membres de l’Association canadienne de communication,

En tant que participant.e.s au dernier congrès annuel de l’ACC-CCA qui a eu lieu en Juin 2021 à l’Université de l'Alberta, nous vous invitons à soumettre le texte rédigé suite à votre présentation, recherche en cours, ou résumé allongé (extended abstract) en vue de la publication des actes du colloque dans la revue Stream, publiée par les jeunes chercheur.e.s du Département de communication de l’Université Simon Fraser.

Les contributions de toutes disciplines et de tous domaines d’étude, dont la perspective est communicationnelle, sont les bienvenues. Les textes, d’une longueur de 5 à 20 pages, doivent respecter les directives de soumission de Stream consultables via ce lien: journals.sfu.ca/stream/index.php/stream/about/submissions

Noter que seules les contributions écrites par des étudiant.e.s seront acceptées (nous n’acceptons pas les collaborations avec des professeur.e.s ou professionnel.le.s).

Stream Vol. 8, issue 1 has been published. Special thanks to Byron Hauck and Veronique Emond, who acted as guest editors of the volume, as well as Prof. Dal Yong Jin, who organized the original colloqium and wrote the introduction for the issue. We are very glad to announce that Stream Vol. 7, issue 1 has been published. Please go the "archive" section and find the issue there (the journal's homepage is showing Vol.7 issue 2, which is an in-progress issue). We would like to thank all of our authors, reviewers, and copy-editors for their hard work on this issue! Stay tuned and Vol. 7 Issue 2 is in the progress of production.
